The Experience
Imagine, and enjoy one of the finest small luxury hotels in Skye. Skye is a magical place and we present to you what we think is a fitting, magical hotel experience.
At Toravaig House Hotel, we keep the premises very much like a country house hotel with emphasis on peace and relaxation. Enjoy crackling open fires and wonderful food prepared by our two great chefs. We have the very best of Scottish produce, all locally produced and sourced both in fish, seafood and meats. We do duck, venison, lamb and beef steak, along with halibut, fish, sea bass, scallops and lobster.
We feature a full Scottish breakfast with the famous Isle of Lewis black pudding from the Outer Hebrides. Of course, also bacon and eggs, smoked haddock and smoked kippers, all from the sea shore around the Isle of Skye. We also have a continental breakfast with fresh fruit and croissants.
Actually, we do anything that we think our visitors would like. We offer a lovely oatmeal porridge, which is a traditional Scottish dish, served with Demerara sugar or honey and cream. If anyone would like a little shot of whisky on their porridge, then they are very welcome, even though it’s the morning.
As you might expect, we are always making improvements to Toravaig. We have nine lovely rooms and they are all different. All our rooms have what we’d call feature beds - sleigh, iron beds, all with canopies. Each room is unique and they all have little personal touches which make them very special indeed.
Each bedroom is named after an island such as Eriskay, Oronsay and Vatersay. And our lovely new 42-foot yacht – “Solus na Mara” - offers sensational yacht trips consisting of day cruises around western Scotland. The day trips take seven hours and include lunch on board during the trip. It’s good to return to the hotel after the sailing trip and sit by the fire recalling the thrilling sights and sounds of this wonderful adventure.
Toravaig is very popular for weddings. There are lots of beautiful castles and romantic spots nearby where you can have the actual ceremony or perhaps you’d prefer to have it within the hotel itself which has a civil wedding license. Whichever you choose the meal and accommodation for you and your guests can be at the hotel. We receive many overseas bookings for weddings and have lots of tips and advice for those organising their wedding from a distance. For the more adventurous or those searching for a unique wedding experience, there is the opportunity to get married on board our yacht -“Solus na Mara” - the ultimate in romantic wedding venues! |
