The Yacht

Breaking News

Our brand new 42ft yacht (pictured above) was bought at the London Boat Show at the beginning of 2007. We are now offering daily excursions from Monday to Saturday, April to September.

New for 2008: daily island boat trips and excursions, exclusive to hotel residents, on the Toravaig Yacht.

Toravaig is truly unique. It could be the first Scottish hotel that launches daily yachting excursions around the West Highlands and Islands of Scotland - into some of the most beautiful sailing waters in the world.

Exclusively for resident guests. The hotel's 42 foot yacht, ‘Solus na Mara’ - A French built Jeanneau - a magical and memorable experience. Launched at Easter 2007, 'Solus na Mara' offers daily sailings exclusively for hotel guests, taking them on sensational excursions in the Sound of Sleat and to Loch Hourn, Loch Nevis, Isle of Rhum or Sandaig Island - home of Gavin Maxwell, author of ‘Ring of Bright Water’.

The day will include a light lunch of home made bread, smoked meats or smoked cheese and salad, homemade tablet and of course a glass of fine wine! Trips will commence from Armadale Old Pier close to Toravaig- and Ken and Anne will really look after you for the day. Afterwards, our residents can come back to the hotel after the cruise and relax by the fire for pre-dinner drinks before dinner.

Sailing is with a minimum of 1, and a maximum of 6 guests, in the responsible care of ship’s master Kenneth. Skipper Ken is a Master Mariner with vast experience world wide. He is also a qualified 'Yachtmaster' Ocean, having had his own sailing yacht for many years. Sailing is weather dependent and the decision regarding sailing will be made by 10am on the morning of the excursion.

THE SKYE BOAT SONG
‘Speed bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing
Onward, the sailors cry
Carry the lad that’s born to be king
Over the sea to Skye.’ – Words by Sir Harold Boulton,1884
