Day sailing trips are exclusive to the guests of Toravaig and Duisdale House Hotels on the Isle of Skye. Enjoy sailing around the inlets on Scotland’s mainland to remote little townships tucked away and kept as secret from the rest of the world! Onwards and outwards to the islands of Rhum and Eigg on Scotland’s west coast.
Yachtmaster Ken Gunn has spent many years on the ocean wave. He is a master mariner with great respect for the elements. Anne Gracie, his partner and crew mate is a qualified Day Skipper, gaelic speaker and native islander. Between them they make a great team, with many stories and great laughter aboard.
Watch out for the sea-life and bird-life within the Sound of Sleat on the west coast. Basking sharks, Minke Whales and Dolphins are plentiful when the waters warm up a little.
A delicious lunch, prepared in the hotel’s kitchen, is served aboard together with a glass of wine.
Sailing is weather dependent and the destination is determined, normally, by the wind, strength and direction. Guests should have a good fitness level and be under 16 stones. Soft soled sailing shoes or trainers and warm, showerproof clothing are required. No hiking boots. In the event of sailing being cancelled due to heavy weather – Ken’s decision is final.
